I was a little unsure of how I wanted to customize the January 2016 Tamiya Giveaway chassis, so I did a little research and found a complete alloy conversion kit from Yeah Racing. This kit is pretty substantial and includes all kinds of blue aluminum bits that really stand out on the TT-02 chassis.
The box is wonderfully heavy; it FEELS like you’re getting a lot even before you open it up. Multiple bags of parts are inside as is a nice, Tamiya-style supplement that explains how to install the parts. Since I was building this kit from the ground up, it was super easy to just place both manuals next to each other and swap out the parts as I went along.
The parts themselves are awesome – CNC-machined aluminum that are of excellent quality – even the blue anodizing matches throughout the entire kit. Everything shown is included; shock towers, shocks, front and rear adjustable upper a-arms with solid lower arms and motor mount. There’s even a full aluminum steering rack, steering blocks and rear hubs. Heavy duty outdrives are includes as are a full set of CVD’s and center input shafts. There’s even an alumium center driveshaft.
Seems like a healthy kit, but you also get a full set of bearings (to replace the plastic and oilite bushings) and an aluminum fan mount and high-output YR fan. Finally, a solid axle is included to replace the front gear diff.
All of these parts are included in the Eat. Sleep. RC. Tamiya, installed and ready to go! It’s a beautiful kit that adds durability and just the right amount of bling!
