Axial RR10 Bomber 1:10 Scale Electric 4WD Rock Racer

Axial RR10 Bomber 1:10 Scale Electric 4WD Rock Racer

If you saw our post a few days ago regarding the accidental (or intentional) leak of the new RR10 Rock Racer, you’ll see a breakdown of what we thought might actually be a new rig from Axial.

Well, it appears this wasn’t an accidental leak. The RR10 Bomber is, in fact, a new rock racer from the boys over at Axial. Teaming up with Bomber Fabricaton’s Randy Slawson, the two have put together a beautiful rendition of the two-time King of the Hammers buggy. This is a ground-up design and has quite a few features that put it in a league of it’s own in the rock racing department.

Exciting features on this buggy include a full tube-frame, composite chassis with a slew of scale details. Interior tray with molded driver figures, dashboard, multiple helmets and a fuel cell are just the tip of the iceberg. A set of BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR2 tires (in S30 compound) wrapped around 2.2″ Walker Evans racing wheels.

The electronics are mounted in an easy-access section just inside the skid plate assembly. The battery now mounts in a compartment just in front of the driver’s area and can accept a 2S or 3S LiPo pack. Axial’s waterproof AE-5 ESC sends power to the 35T brushed motor while a Tactic TSX45 metal-geared servo handles the steering. Total control is achieved using Tactic’s TTX300 3-channel radio system.

Damping on the rear of the RR10 is handled by a set of aluminum-bodied, adjustable King Shocks. The rear has optional, secondary mounts to use the RR10 with a dual-shock setup. Anti-roll bar mounts are also included for additional tuning.

The drivetrain has also seen some refinements, starting with the Yeti-style transmission that bolts directly to the skid plate for proper driveshaft alignment. The transmission is filled with metal gears and quality bearings. A dual slipper clutch and hi-lo speeds are standard.

WR8 HD Wildboar driveshafts are used front and back and spin HD gears inside the AR60 OCP-Axles. Additional AR60 features include an off-center pumpkin design and reinforced with a boxed-in axle truss.

There’s quite a bit more to share, so head over to Axial’s site to read some more. I can’t wait to get one of these and get it out on our local rock racer course!!!
