Traxxas X-Maxx Monster Truck

Traxxas X-Maxx Monster Truck

Traxxas is going big with it’s latest release, the X-Maxx Monster Truck. This beastly vehicle is huge, measuring almost 30″ long and over 21″ wide, making it almost double the size of Traxxas’ regular E-Maxx.

Large vehicles require lots of power and Traxxas delivers by including their massive VXL-6S brushless ESC. This powerhouse handles up to a 6S LiPo pack and feeds the juice to a 1600kV sensorless, brushless motor. All of the electronics are mounted right down the center of the chassis, including the high-power steering servo. The LiPo packs mount inside compartments on each side of the chassis, secured by plastic, swinging doors.

The drivetrain sees some buff parts as well. The full-time 4WD system features steel CVD’s, 24mm splined wheel hexes, machined aluminum stub axles and a splined, aluminum center driveshaft that runs under the electronics. Even with all those strong parts, Traxxas has included a heavy duty, fan-equipped slipper clutch to help protect the parts from breakage while you’re out beating up this rig.

Moving to the suspension, Traxxas has engineered some impressive features into the X-Maxx to keep this monster on point over some of the roughest terrain. All critical points have been designed with a ‘double sheer’ breaking point, meaning incredible strength in two different tear directions. Steel suspension hinge pins are utilized as are 4mm pivot balls, but the best feature is the new GTX shocks. These dampers have an extra-large bore with a threaded outside to adjust ride height. The shafts are 5.2mm thick.

One of the coolest features, however, is the Self-Righting System. Should you get into trouble, there is a ‘Self’ button on the radio that automatically modulates the throttle forward and back until the X-Maxx rights itself. Love it!

Other cool features include Traxxas’ TSM (Traxxas Stability Management), TQi 2.4GHz radio system and a cool new, one-handed body removal system that pivots at the rear for easy access.

There’s alot more going on with this awesome truck, but you can head over to Traxxas’ web site and check it out. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these. Check out the video below:
