Over the weekend of March 3-4, Outback Raceway in Chico, CA hosted the 2012 Outback Electric Shootout. The event attracted nearly 250 entries from all over Northern California.

In the hotly contested 2WD Open Class, Eric Albano captured the pole position with his Reedy-powered B4.1 and fought his way back from a rough start to take the win over Philip Atondo with Reedy teammate Jimmy Jacobson rounding out the podium positions.

Albano and his Reedy-powered SC10 nearly TQ’ed the Open 2WD Short Course class but was narrowly edged out in a tie-breaker by Aaron Biner. The two drivers found themselves in a fierce battle for the number one spot. The two-way battle continued for nearly 6 ½ minutes until Albano was able to break free and take the win.

Starting from the pole with his Reedy-powered B44.1 in 4WD Open class, Albano encountered a mechanical failure, which dashed his hopes of a hat trick. However, wins in two classes and TQ in another is a very impressive feat.

Congratulations to Outback Raceway and all the participants for a great event!
