RC Tuning Battery Placement

Moving your battery forward or backward can change the way your vehicle jumps.

Most cars allow you to adjust the placement of your battery pack, whether it’s front-to-back or side-to-side. Doing this can change the handling characteristics of your car.

Sliding the pack forward will increase steering but reduce rear traction. It may also result in a less responsive steering feeling due to the greater load placed on the front wheels. It should, though, make the car feel very balanced front-to-back (that is if the battery pack location is near the center of the car, front-to-back). You should also check Ride Height after moving the battery forward.

Sliding the battery back will result in less steering overall but more rear traction. Battery back may cause the car to dive into corners harder. This is a result of more weight shifting forward under braking (or deceleration).

In off-road, weight jacking can also cause your buggy or truck to jump differently. More weight forward will make the vehicle nose-heavy while in the air, while more weight back will make it rear-heavy.
