Upgrades – Tires and Wheels

Upgrades – Electronics
The Electronics are probably one of the most important upgraded areas of the RC18 Series vehicles…it’s all dependent on what you plan on doing with your RC18! We’ll go over Servos, Receivers, Electronic Speed Controls, Batteries and Motors.

Wheels
Of all the 1/18th scale wheels out there, only one allows any performance gain (as slight as it might be)…the Dish wheel. As your car moves along, air is diverted around the tire and down the side of the car. When you turn, that Dish wheel acts as a sort of rudder to help make the car turn a little harder (but also might slow it down a bit more). Effects might be marginal compared to a standard spoke wheel, and, really, I can’t notice much of a difference (at least in 1/18th scale).

Below is a list of companies that make 1/18th scale wheels:

Tires
Tires are probably the most important performance item on your vehicle. A well set up car can be in agony on the track if the wrong tire is chosen. Likewise, a poor handling car can be brought to life with the right tire! Because of the HUGE assortment of tires on the market, I will only point out what I think are the best for every given vehicle class.
