Tamiya Astute 2022 TD2 Video Build
Tamiya’s Astute 2022 is an updated 2WD buggy that sits on the new TD2 platform. Similar to the TD4 chassis (seen on the Super Avante), the back half of the buggy uses about 95% of the same parts as the TD4. Since this is now a 2WD buggy, the front section of the TD2 is much different.
In this video we talk a little about the TD2 as well as dig into the box to see what comes inside.

Tamiya Astute 2022 TD2 Video Build – Part 1
Hey everyone and welcome to Part 1 of the Tamiya Astute 2022 online build.
The Astute 2022 is based on the Super Avante TD4 chassis, using a few small included parts to remove the 4WD system (the Astute 2022 is 2WD). Doing this, it converts the chassis to a TD2 designation, or 2WD.
In this video we go over the tools you’ll need for the entire build as well as the assembly of the rear gearbox, rear suspension and rear shocks.
We’re also debuting (sort of) our new CompetitionX Ball Cup Tool. This tool will help you build turnbuckles on most 1/10 scale rides.

Welcome back everyone to Part 2 of the Tamiya Astute 2022 online build.
In this video, we jump right into the build, moving to the front of the TD2 and assembling the steering, front suspension and front shocks. There are also a few good tips to be had during this part of the build.
We also work with our new CompetitionX Ball Cup Tool. We use it to build the front turnbuckles, front rocker arm links and the lower shock ball ends. You can find the link to our Shapeways store down in the Tools Used below!

Welcome everyone to Part 3 of the Tamiya Astute 2022 online build.
In this video, we wrapping up the build, assembling the wheels and tires as well as painting and applying the stickers to the driver, wing and body. We’re also installing the electronics, giving you a detailed look at the best way we found to wire up the motor.
