Dynamite Platinum Sensored Brushless Race Motors

Dynamite Platinum Sensored Brushless Race Motors

Dynamite has recently added a new series of brushless race motors, the DPS, or Dynamite Platinum Sensored series, to their lineup. Available in a multitude of winds, this motor offers a few cool features that make using and tuning it extremely easy.

NEED TO KNOW
Manufacturer: Dynamite
Product: DPS (Dynamite Platinum Sensored) 6.5T brushless race motor
Part Number: DYNP1006
Price: $84.99

Take a look at the outside and you will see that the can is not only a mid-break, two-piece unit, but it is also ‘keyed’, which makes it virtually impossible to reassemble incorrectly. Another cool feature is the stepped solder contacts; this helps keep the wires separate when soldering them on. The DPS motor also includes clearly visible A-B-C wire-tab designators, end-feed sensor wire port and 2mm hex screws to adjust timing. Speaking of timing, Dynamite has made the timing marks extremely easy to see, etching them in white on the blue endbell.

Moving to the inside, the DPS comes with the motor designation (in this case, 6.5T) stamped in two places. It also comes with full ball bearings and a 1/8-inch shaft, 12mm rotor capable of spinning to a wild 36,416 rpm.

Dynamite Platinum Sensored Brushless Race MotorsGreat! All that technical mumbo jumbo is out of the way, but how does it run? There are things I look for when testing brushless motors; speed (duh), run time and how hot it gets after my run. The first one is a no-brainer. This thing ran like a bat out of, well, you know! On a race 7.4V LiPo pack, there is certainly no lack of power—this thing is crazy fast! Run times were roughly in the 13-minute range, which is right on par with other motors I’ve run. The DPS did get a little warmer than any other motors I’ve run, but that might be because the can is completely sealed. The shaft side does have some vents, but it sits against the motor plate (which is covered by the gear cover). I geared down a tooth for the final run and saw the temperature drop without any noticeable loss of speed.

Dynamite’s DPS is a great-looking motor that has the potential to put you in the winner’s circle. The price is also a few dollars cheaper than the rest of the competition motors, so it’s certainly worth checking out!
