This week brought us a modern retro buggy, two very different small-scale race cars, stronger servos and a short-course tire with absolutely no tread.
Apparently, even the tires are now removing unnecessary weight.
Team Associated Goes Small With the RC28R.1
Team Associated revealed the new RC28R.1 Team Kit. The 1/28-scale on-road car receives several useful changes aimed at making it easier to build, tune and race.
An updated steel chassis accepts wider 24mm battery packs and provides more room for mounting electronics. The kit also includes different upper-arm options for changing camber and caster, plus soft, medium and hard torsion side links.
A threaded center shock controls pitch and droop, while carbon-fiber shims allow quick rear-axle height changes. The result is a tiny car with a setup sheet that may still occupy an entire sheet of normal-sized paper.

The RB10 Receives the Factory Team Retro Treatment
The new Team Associated RB10 Factory Team Retro Kit combines vintage buggy styling with B5-based running gear.
The rear-motor chassis features retro-bronze aluminum parts, exclusive grey plastics, a Viper body and a 5.5-inch rear wing. Underneath are 13mm Kashima-coated shocks, CVA driveshafts, a ball differential and an adjustable slipper clutch.
The RB10 is available for preorder at $329.99, with shipping scheduled for late September. Team Associated limits direct orders to two per customer, but it has not called the kit a numbered production run.
It should appeal to builders who want old-school looks without wondering whether a forty-year-old suspension arm will survive one more cartwheel.

Schumacher Introduces the Neon FT
The Schumacher Neon FT is a competition-focused front-wheel-drive Mini chassis intended for club and national racing.
Its features include double-wishbone suspension, short aluminum shocks, adjustable battery placement and a belt-driven transmission. Fixed-length upper arms provide preset camber and caster, reducing the number of adjustments a newer racer can accidentally improve in the wrong direction.
Schumacher also includes a 3D-printed front bumper that can hold tuning weights. It is a practical use of printing technology rather than a decorative part destined to live permanently in a storage bin.

Cerberus Prepares Four On-Road Conversions
Cerberus RC announced four Vektor conversion packages for Excelerate RC vehicles. The planned lineup covers Pro10, 1/12-scale, World GT and Formula 1 configurations.
The detailed WGT package includes a new chassis, rear pod, battery tray, damper components and movable brass weights. This approach could let an experienced builder enter another class without purchasing an entirely separate platform.
Cerberus says the conversions are coming soon.

Reedy Adds Two Brushless Competition Servos
Reedy released two new high-voltage servos with brushless motors, steel gears and aluminum cases.
The low-profile Reedy RT3507A is aimed at 1/10 on-road and off-road cars. At 8.4 volts, it produces a claimed 35kg-cm of torque with a 0.065-second transit time.
The standard-size Reedy RT7011A is intended for 1/8 and demanding 1/10 applications. Its maximum listed output is 70kg-cm at 8.4 volts.
Both are available through AMain Hobbies, with the RT3507A listed at $156.99 and the RT7011A at $171.99.
Those figures make them serious racing equipment, not casual replacements for the steering servo that came in a $150 RTR.

Short-Course Tires Finally Lose the Tread
ProMotion RC announced its new Slicks SCT short-course tires for high-grip indoor clay tracks.
Rather than repurposing a buggy tire, ProMotion developed a short-course-specific carcass and profile. Each package includes two 2.2-inch tires and two inserts.
A treadless short-course tire may sound strange until you see how much traction a prepared indoor clay surface can produce. At that point, the challenge is often managing grip instead of finding it.
