New from MIP is this transmission for the Team Associated B5M and T5M that allows the use of all current topshafts available from AE and MIP. In addition, this 3-gear box provides less drag than the standard 4-gear, mid-motor transmission.
MIP went with an aluminum construction for a number of reasons. First, MIP can control the tolerances much easier than with plastic, meaning a more precise internal gear mesh. Secondly, the case acts as a large heatsink, resulting in less overall heat. Finally, since it’s made from aluminum, alot of the bracing that is required to stiffen a plastic box has been eliminated, resulting in a box that’s 10% lighter than the original.
