Team Associated RB10 RTR 2WD Buggy | CompetitionX

Team Associated has snuck a fast one in on us, dropping the new RB10 2WD buggy. Coming at us in RTR trim, this is based on their previous 2WD buggies but includes a full compliment of powerful Reedy electronics – brushless ESC, 3300kV brushless motor and servo. It also comes equipped with AE’s 2.4GHz radio system that features DVC (Dynamic Vehicle Control). An enclosed receiver box, aluminum fluid-filled shocks and racing tires are all included with the RB10.

What We Like:
We love that this release will help people get into 2WD racing at an affordable cost. I’m sure it’s plenty fast for racing (even more speedy that the ESC can handle 3S) and comes with all the adjustable tuning options that the full-blown, high end race buggies have. Surely a gateway vehicle to the world of racing!

What We’re Not Sure About:
Being a potential ‘entry’ car to the world of 2WD buggy racing, fitting it with a 3300kV motor seems a bit odd. Sure, it will make the buggy fast, but a 3300kV motor is roughly the same as a 13.5T brushless motor – something WAY more powerful than the stock 17.5T class allows (the same motor allowed in the beginner class as well). It will be interesting to see how many of these are allowed in that beginner class if someone just shows up to race.
