RC Suspension Tuning Guide – Caster

RC Tuning - Caster

What is Caster?
Caster is the angle of the steering block kingpin as it leans toward the rear of the car.

Caster is also directly affected by Kickup, something found mostly in 2WD offroad cars. For example, if you have 0° Caster blocks and 2° of Kickup, you really have 2° of Caster (overall). If your car has 4° Caster blocks and 2° of Kickup, actually gives you 6° of Caster.

As a word of caution, ALL Caster blocks ARE directional (except for 0° blocks). If you put the left Caster block on the right, you’ll end up with 2° of positive Caster (the kingpin will lean FORWARD instead of back).

As a rule, most cars use 2, 4 or 6° of Caster as an adjustment.
