Hobbywing V3 - Huh, Yeah, What is it Good For?

Question:
Hiya Doctor-
Hi guys, great site!!!! I have certainly learned more about motors, ESC’s, Kv etc. while being here. My question is this: I recently purchased a Hobbywing V3 ESC – best buy ever! What are the other makes of Hobbywing motors that I can use on this ESC? The V3 only gives heat and RPM specs on Hobbywing produced motors?

Parminder

Answer:
Hi Parminder,
Well, you’re right about the Hobbywing V3 ESC – it’s a pretty bad ass unit! I have a couple of these and really love how they work.

As far as which motors work with them, they can handle a 2S LiPo and motors all the way down to a 3.5T wind for 1:10 onroad and a 5.5T wind in 1:10 offroad. However, I bet you didn’t know this … they can also run on a 3S LiPo! Using that, they will handle a 5.5T in 1:10 onroad and a 8.5T in 1:10 offroad.

The Hobbywing V3 is also suitable for 1:10 and 1:8 rock crawlers.

Good luck!
